Read self-help books
Believe it or not, the first time I finished a book, start to finish consistently, was like Dec 2019 and that was of course Vex King’s ‘Good vibes, Good life’. Not sure if I’ve mentioned this book already??? (Review pending). I’ve never been much of a reader, even now, I still find it hard to get into the habit of reading. But, finishing that one book, made me start my self-love journey and realise how much of an impact reading can have on you.

Self-help/motivational books contain so much knowledge which help you to look at things from a different perspective and adopt a positive mindset. It’s crazy how much you can learn from a book. Sometimes they’re things you already know, but it’s the way the author says it, which really hits home. You’ll find yourself questioning and learning a lot about yourself, but it’s all to help you grow and become the best version of yourself.

One chapter in to Vex’s book, and I could already relate. A lot of authors will share their own experiences and lessons, which you’ll find you might have been through/are going through. This creates the feeling of being understood and not feeling alone. It's like you find someone who gets you, which is so important, especially when you’re going through something. Nearly every sentence in this book, I was like ‘omg yes, that’s exactly how I feel’. It's like the book is reading your mind and your feelings are written right in front of you. It might sound cliché, but it's true. I’m not even embarrassed to say it, but there were some points I related so much that I shed a few tears. That’s really how powerful a book can be.

A lot of self-help books will also have different practises and techniques that you can start to incorporate into your daily routines. These help you get into the habit of doing small, good things daily which will lead to a greater overall impact on your life. It could be from five-minute breathing exercises to manifestation techniques and much more. It's important you try your best in making these part of your routine, because they really do help, trust me. At first, you might find it hard, but that’s fine. It’s all a process, take your time with it and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

You’re all probably thinking I’m crazy right now for preaching about reading because I'm going on like I've read thousands of books, but I am learning to make reading a habit. But the fact that one book has helped me grow so much says it all. A book can really put things into perspective for you. Your way of thinking changes, you embrace a much better mindset and most importantly, you learn and grow.

The greatest thing is that there are so many books which can help you achieve different things. Whatever you're trying to improve on or learn about, there is a book that will help you. So whether it's self-love, motivation or something else, find a book, grab a hot drink, get cosy and read. Honestly, it will be worth it. If a book can change my life, it can change yours too.

Love always,
